Down on your luck, bad day at work or perhaps issues with your love life, doesn’t matter what the trouble is, you just need someone to listen to your woes and worries. Well – the glow of the neon sign saying “Moonlight Lounge” flickers and you decide to so get some drinks and try to drown your sorrows. Little did you know the Hellhound Bartender was handing out life advice for unexpecting bar-goers. Are these words of wisdom, or is someone trying to prank you? Guess you better open up those ears and see what she has to say to ya then!
As this script has adult content in the form of mentions of alcohol, you may want to add a level of "guidance" or a "Drink Responsibly" sort of note in the audio, either before or after. Just a suggestion!

As well, while I've put my own level of "Fox Wisdom", feel free to add your own life lessons, quotes or "Bartender Advice" and make the audio your own if you feel so inclined or wish to extend the overall length of the script/audio.

Please feel free to improv, change, extend or cut lines as necessary or needed. I’m not so heartless as to make a voice actor stick to the script if new inspiration or dialogue works in place of another. Please do keep the overall tone the same with your additions though!

//It’s been a long day and a rather tired looking Hellhound stands behind the counter of a bar. She is polishing a glass, checking for water marks when the listener comes in.//
26
(Sound of a door chime, soft bar/lounge music plays in the background)
27
28
29
<Stern, semi unenthusiastic but professional> Welcome to the Moonlight Lounge, where we serve you till the wolves howl. Awoooo...
30
31
32
//The Listener sits down at the bar. It’s a pretty quiet night where little to no one is around so the listener has the bartender’s undivided attention. She puts a coaster in front of the listener//
33
34
35
<Unapologetically> Respectfully – you look like hot trash. Seems like it’s been a long night based on that sour look you’re carrying...
36
37
<Stern> What can I get started for ya?
38

43
<Scoffs> “Whatever” isn’t on the menu so let’s try that question again shall we; what can I get started for ya?

49
<Apologetic> Sorry; just been a long day. Looks like it’s been one of those for you too.
50
51
52
//The Hellhound pours ice and liquor into a shaker cup, popping the lid on and shaking it//
53
(The sound of a cork coming out of a bottle, shaker cup being filled with ice and liquor being poured in and shaken, then poured into a glass)
54
55
56
<Professional, relaxed> And here you -
57
58
59
//The Listener picks up the glass, downs it and pushes the glass back, practically looking unamused with the drink you made after having cut you off half presentation//
60
(Gulping, glass sliding)
61
62
63
<Stern> - Go...Didn’t even ask what it was called huh? Didn’t know this was a “drinking to forget” kind of night tonight...
64
65
<Stern, knowledgeable and reflective.> Look, take it from me, an “wise old” Hellhound Bartender...if you got a problem; you aren’t going to find the solution at the bottom of a bottle, no matter how hard you look...I should know; I’ve been looking there for a long time myself...
66
67
68
//The bartender doesn’t bother with something fancy; she just pulls out two whiskey glasses. She put’s a single ice cube in each, pours a drink over it and holds it up before throwing it back//
69
(Ice cube being put in a glass, followed by liquor being poured into it)
70
71
72
<Cheers like tone, casual and laid back> “To hitting rock bottom”
73
74
75
(Gulping, heavy sigh, glass sliding)
76
77
78
<Sympathetic> It seems to me like...I dunno...perhaps...you might need a bartender to talk to...a sympathetic ear to listen to your woes and strives...
79
80
<Stern> So go on...tell this bartender what’s on your mind.
81
82
83
(Bar like ambience, followed by things like “mhm”, glasses clinking, ,liquid pouring, tap turning on and off. After a bit, adding a soft laugh or chuckle)
84
//The Listener tells the bartender what has been ailing them and at the end, the Hellhound gives a soft chuckle//
85
86
87
<Semi apologetic, casual> Hm? No no, I’m not laughing at you; if anything, I find it amusing you think you’re situation is...”unique”.
88
89
<Reflective> I know – oh BE-LIEVE me I know...whats its like to...regret the choices you made and...knowing you cant take them back...
90
91
<Sympathetic> But letting your walls down...it can sometimes set you on the straight and narrow again you know? “Same storm, different boat” you know what I mean?
92
93
94
*Short pause*
95
96
97
<Quizzical> You...don’t know what I mean.
98
99
<Insightful> Alright, better open up those ears of yours and let me tell ya something; you know that saying about “we’re all in the same boat”? Well...we aren’t...we aren’t all in the same boat; some of us have those little...lifeboats and we’re trying to just get by with what we’ve got or what we can gather out at sea...while others are living comfortably on their yachts and cruise ships, never having experienced the harsh life of sea. They don’t feel the sway of the ocean trying to capsize them and drag them down to the dark, inky depths. The difference between your lifeboat and that cruise ship is the storms you can weather.
100
101
102
(The sound of another glass being poured is heard to break up the tense moment)
103
104
105
<Insightful> There are some storms where those big ships can hold out, but sometimes, they are much easier to sink when a small bit of damage occurs, whereas a weathered ship may be imperfect, but you know just where – and more importantly how – to best repair those holes. It’s about who’s at the helm of said ship. All of this is a long winded way of saying...”we are all in different parts of our lives and no two boats are the same”; but that doesn’t mean we don’t share the same hardships.
106
107
108
*Short Pause*
109
110
111
<Scoffs> What? Just cause I’m a bartender doesn’t mean I don’t know things too. It comes with the territory.
112
113
<Playful, casual> Here’s another “insightful” tip from your bartender...”Don’t eat yellow snow”.
114
115
<Prideful, teasingly> Betcha didn’t know THAT one huh?
116
117
118
*Long pause*
119
120
121
<Insightful> ...I think a lot of people out there in the world wish they were somewhere else. Whether physically...mentally...emotionally. Perhaps, that’s just a different place in their life...like a career or just a change of scenery. We get so caught up in the future or past, that we forget about the “now”. Deep down, I don’t think it was a coincidence you walked through that front door of mine and sat down, getting an earful from a Hellish Hound such as myself.
122
123
124
*Short Pause*
125
126
127
<Prideful, semi assertive> I dunno if I’d go so far as to call it “fate” or whatever - but you are here, with me, for a reason. Perhaps it’s life's way of trying to point you in the direction you want or need to go...perhaps its just a sense of being heard and understood. Or, perhaps it’s so a Hellhound Bartender can lay down some supernatural wisdom to a weary soul looking for some help. Whatever the case may be; you are where you are meant to be, when you are meant to be there, and not a minute sooner. So at the end of the day, just remember – live a little. Stop to smell the roses, enjoy the scenery and know you are where you need to be. Life lessons are all around; you just gotta be willing to listen.
128
129
130
*Short pause*
131
//The Hellhound pours two shots; one for herself, one for the Listener. She then raises one in the form of a toast, locking eyes with the listener. There is a look of pride, determination and a sense of purpose in her look//
132
133
134
<Prideful, semi celebratory> “To being where we need to be; no matter where that is.”
135
136
137
(The sound of shot glasses clinking and then being put down on the countertop)
138
//The Hellhound and Listener finish up the shots. There is a new sense of purpose and determination in the look of the Listener//
139
140
141
<Upbeat> Hm? Calling it a night I see? Well, can’t blame ya. After laying down some serious food for thought like that, you’re probably bushed. You need me to call you a cab or something?
142
143
144
*Short pause*
145
146
147
<Attentive> Ah, I see. Don’t live too far away huh? I can respect that. The night air is probably just what you need to clear your head and get you on the right path...
148
149
<Prideful> And hey – if you ever need a bartender to talk to – well, I think you’ll know where to find me...
150
151
152
(The sound of a bell ringing as the Listener steps out)
153
154
//There’s a moment where the listener steps out, standing in front of the door and taking a deep breath, a weight lifted off their shoulders and a new sense of wisdom in their mind. They bundle up and walk away from the bar//
155
156
(The sound of the little bar’s music slowly fading out as the listener leaves for the night)
